Wanted: The World Typewriter
The World Typewriter was patented by inventor John Becker on October 12, 1886. It was produced by the World Type-Writer Company briefly in Portland, Maine before relocating production to Boston, MA and then Hartford, CT. I'm on the hunt for a World No.1 with gold embellishments on the cast iron under the paper fingers. It was most likely produced in Maine. I'm also hunting a World typewriter that was nickel plated instead of japanned, like the one seen here, and another with modifications for the visually impaired.
