Wanted: Wilson Typewriter
The Wilson "Dollar" typewriter was invented by James E. Wilson of New York, NY. Though it was patented in December of 1892, it was probably produced prior to then since the machine is marked just with the words "Patent Pending" and not with an actual patent number. The patent application itself was filed for in September of 1891. All known examples are also labeled as "The No.1 Wilson Type-Writer" while a few also have the word "Dollar" on them, like the example on this page.
Other similarly cheap typewriters included the Dollar, Eagle and Yankee as well as others.
In 1893, James Wilson was awarded another patent fir improvements to the Edland typewriter.
