Wanted: Todd's Improved Mimeograph Typewriter for the Blind
Dr. W.G. Todd of Kansas City, KS, and the superintendent of the Kansas Institution for the Education of the Blind, invented the Improved Mimeograph Typewriter for the Blind ca.1895. The invention consisted of retrofitting the index of an Edison Mimeograph Typewriter with a more tactile faux keyboard. Each key was made of aluminum with raised letters. The operation of Todd's Improved Edison Mimeograph was basically still like that of most index typewriter.
