Walker's Peerless pencil sharpener, originally marketed as the Peerless Pencil Pointer, was patented on February 11, 1896. However, it was available for purchase as early as 1895. The sharpener was produced by Walker Mf'g Co. Ltd. which had factories in Chicago IL and Adrian, MI. The Peerless was constructed of cast iron and was meant to me mounted on a sturdy surface..
