Wanted: Hammond Typewriter
The Hammond was first produced in 1884 by the Hammond Typewriter Company of New York though it was first patented as early as Feb. 3, 1880 and Sep. 21, 1880. Its namesake and inventor was James B. Hammond. The typewriter boasts a beautiful wood case (available in oak and mahogany) and a curved keyboard of ebony keys. The Hammond was just the third keyboard typewriter to be produced successfully behind the Sholes & Glidden and Caligraph.
