Wanted: Gerda Braillewriter
The Gerda typewriter on this page is the No.1 model. It was a German-made braille writing machine invented ca.1919 by Georg Emig of Berlin. Examples without a braille index, the Gerda No.2, were also produced. Gerda typewriters resemble and operate much like Edelmanns and Crowns. It's been reported that the German government helped move this project along so that soldiers blinded during WWI would have a typewriter that they could use.
